Daffy Duck and Porky Pig take center stage in The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes LookMovie. It has been four years since these beloved characters appeared in a feature film, and the previous installment, Space Jam: A New Legacy, did not achieve significant acclaim. This latest release is expected to be much better received by Looney Tunes enthusiasts, as it offers the familiar comedic chaos wrapped in a clever sci-fi parody.
When a UFO crashes on Earth, causing debris to crash through the roof of their home, the homeowners' association gives Daffy and Porky a week to make repairs or face eviction. The duo embarks on a hilarious montage as they apply for various jobs, ultimately failing at each one before securing employment at a bubblegum factory. Porky appreciates this job as it allows him to be near his colleague, Petunia Pig.
Meanwhile, the alien invader, voiced by Peter MacNichol, devises a scheme to infuse the bubblegum with a mind-control agent. This new "flavor" quickly gains popularity, transforming a large portion of the population into zombie-like beings. Only Daffy and the two pigs have the potential to prevent a global disaster—if they can come to a consensus on a plan.

Humor manifests in two distinct ways in The Day the Earth Blew Up. One aspect of the film is a buddy comedy that showcases the humorous friction between two contrasting characters. Although Porky and Daffy are close friends, they often irritate one another in a manner reminiscent of Abbott and Costello. Their exchanges are consistently amusing, embodying the classic Looney Tunes style. The screenplay, attributed to an impressive eleven writers, is rich with clever one-liners, many of which are skillfully crafted to appeal to the adult audience.
