Co-directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, known for their works “Villains” and “Body,” collaborate on Novocaine Lookmovie. The protagonist, Nate, suffers from a genetic condition that prevents him from feeling pain, leaving his nervous system oblivious to any biting sensations. While this might initially seem advantageous, it quickly becomes apparent that Nate must set timers every three hours to use the restroom (to prevent his bladder from bursting) and relies on a liquid diet to avoid accidentally injuring himself, such as biting his tongue. His condition proves to be both inconvenient and restrictive until he encounters a rare opportunity to leverage it, transforming him into a makeshift vigilante.
Nate, a timid and underappreciated assistant general manager at a local bank, harbors feelings for Sherry (Amber Midthunder), a bold and straightforward bank clerk. Sherry's flirtatious and outgoing nature is the first to draw Nate out of his shell, and after a passionate night together, he finds himself deeply infatuated. However, their budding romance is interrupted when a group of robbers, including the cunning Ray Nicholson, storm the bank dressed as Santa Claus, escaping with not only cash but also Sherry hostage. Driven by his love for her, Nate quickly sheds his timid persona, determined to rescue her at any cost. This sets off a thrilling cross-city pursuit filled with gunfire, fistfights, traps, burns, and bloodshed, all of which Nate remarkably endures.
